There is an unseen enemy within that has hindered and buffeted people for over a hundred generations. This enemy attacks those with big dreams and those that want to make a difference with their lives. This enemy can't be ignored.
This enemy is so powerful it once hindered Jesus.
“What is this enemy,” you ask? It's called unbelief. It's the enemy within. One day Christ went to a village to teach and heal but was hampered by unbelief. Scripture says, “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folks, and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief” (Mark 6:5-6). It's amazing to see how powerful unbelief can be. It stopped those in the presence of God from receiving a miracle.
Unbelief is a powerful force that can stop you from achieving your dreams, desires, and aspirations. The answer to unbelief is faith. Faith is the only thing that can overcome unbelief. Unbelief and faith always contend with each other. They are like oil and water. They don't mix. The good news is that faith always wins. Faith is like turning on a light in a dark room. Darkness has no choice but to flee. Darkness has never won a battle with light. Faith believes that all things are possible to them that believe.
The Bible teaches that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word. You should also know that unbelief comes by hearing. This leads to a foundational conclusion, faith-filled words destroy unbelief. Words have power. Words can build up or tear down. Words are courses to shipwreck or lanes to smooth sailing. Jesus said that words, his words, were spirit and life. Proverbs declares, that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
To overcome the unseen conflict of unbelief within, you must learn how to speak life over your situation. Jesus taught his disciples the power of faith-filled words. He pointed to a mountain and told them all they needed to do was speak to it and it would move. The mountain was a metaphor for anything that tried to stop them.
Scripture lets you know that God blesses those that diligently seek him. When battling the unseen spirit of fear, uncertainty, and doubt, remember this: “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). When unbelief attacks, speak words of faith. You can do it. You are a winner. You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you.
