The Bible has a very clear stance on consulting with witch doctors and other spiritualists. This is prominently demonstrated in the Old and New Testaments. In Leviticus 19:31, it states, "Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them; I am the Lord your God."
Therefore, simply by consulting witch doctors or other spiritualists, one is being disobedient and committing an act of uncleanliness against God. Moreover, Leviticus 20:6 reiterates this point: "If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people."
This verse demonstrates that consulting with witch doctors and other spiritualists is a disgusting and abominable form of idolatry, which implies a lack of faith in the living God and His power. The New Testament several times reiterates its condemning stance towards consulting with spiritualists and those who possess the ability to communicate with the dead.
In Acts 16:16–18, it states, "One day, as we were going to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. She followed Paul and us, crying out, ‘These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.’ And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, ‘I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.’ And it came out that very hour."
In this passage, it is demonstrated that the apostles denounced the powers of divination and showed God’s power was greater. Therefore, even the mere pursuit of such powers is disobedience to God. Moreover, further instances throughout the New Testament demonstrate this stance, such as in the book of Deuteronomy.
In Deuteronomy 18:10–12, it states, "There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer, or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations, the Lord your God is driving them out before you."
This is the strongest example of the Bible’s clear stance on consulting witch doctors and other spiritualists. It is stated that the Lord your God is driving these practices out before you and therefore is indicating his absolute authority and the danger of indulging in such temptations.
Furthermore, in 1 Timothy 4:1, it states, "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons."
This is forewarning against the danger of being tempted by consultations with witch doctors and other spiritualists, which have the potential to lead people away from their faith in the living God. Matthew 12:26 further demonstrates this danger: "If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?"
This is a reference to those who are misled into consulting witch doctors and other spiritualists and believing the lies that they are telling.
Finally, to conclude, many passages throughout the Old and New Testament demonstrate that the Bible speaks out strongly and decisively against the practice of consulting with witch doctors and other spiritualists.
This has been seen in how throughout these passages it is argued that this is a form of idolatry, an abomination, a temptation that could lead away from the true faith in the living God, and other warnings of the power of deceitful spirits.
Moreover, it also showcases how God is ultimately in authority and his ultimate pervasiveness. Therefore, the Bible’s stance on consulting with witch doctors and other spiritualists is clear: it is completely forbidden and ultimately an act of disobedience against the living God.
