You are one of the kings and rulers that Christ is the king and ruler of. The bottom line is this: You are called to take dominion. This means having the power to act with legal authority, to rule, govern, and administrate. As one of the kings and rulers that Christ is the king and ruler of, you have been given dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, the cattle, all of the earth, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1:26).
Dominion is the power to act through legal authority. It means to rule, govern, and administrate. You are one of the kings and rulers that Christ is the king and ruler of. Kings rule. A king is a ruler of a kingdom. Scripture declares of Christ, “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name is written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16). You are one of those kings that Christ is king of. The word “lord” means ruler. This means that you are one of those rulers that Christ is the ruler of. To understand purpose, you need some definitions.
- To rule means to exercise authority.
- To possess means to invade, occupy, and take over.
- To administrate means to manage affairs.
- To take dominion means to bring into subjection and conformity.
RULING KINGS
All these traits can be found in the kingship of the Christian man. Maybe you have never been told this, but you, as a Disciple of Christ, have been designated a spiritual king.
Apostle Peter taught about kingship. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
Kingship is a powerful truth. It’s a truth revealing the mandate and delegated ability to govern.
You are part of a royal priesthood of kings. For some, to see themselves as a king feels uncomfortable. That’s because the word king can raise images of unfairness, pride, and arrogance.
Apostle Peter had no problem helping those under his leadership know about their position in Christ. Kingship is an important message because, how you see yourself determines your approach to life, ministry, and God himself. It also affects your relationship with others, including your spouse, children, and family.
Imagine your place in Christ as part of a royal priesthood of kings. Not only are you part of a priesthood of kings, but you have also been given spiritual authority to rule in righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
Authority is an action word.
Authority is the power to make decisions. Christ declared, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). As a man, you have the supernatural ability to bind and loose. That means you can take control of your life.
