Fear, everyone has faced it. Fear is an emotion experienced in anticipation of some specific pain or danger. The Bible says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Many times God tells his servants to be of good courage. After Moses died it was time for Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land. God told Joshua, “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them” (Joshua 1:6).
F.U.D., fear, uncertainty, and doubt are all enemies of the faith. God told Abraham he would inherit the world. Scripture says, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform” (Romans 4:20-21).
When God called Jeremiah a prophet to the nations he admonished him not to be afraid. He said, “Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD” (Jeremiah 1:8).
God spoke to Ezekiel after calling him into ministry, “And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house” (Ezekiel 2:6).
Again, fear is a natural emotional response to pain or danger. When fear attacks your mind God has given you the power to overcome it. Christ said, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19).
You can't ignore fear, you have to overcome it. Face it down with the word of God. When it attacks bind it up in Jesus' Name. Don't stop binding until it leaves. Then speak the word of faith, the promises of God over your life. Remember this, God does not fear what you fear. If God be for you, who can be against you?
