There should never be a power shortage or failure in your life. The early Church was filled with Holy Ghost power. They faced every demonic assault the enemy could throw at them and they still prevailed. If you want what the early church had, you have to preach what the early Church preached. Power! The Church we read about in the Book of Acts was filled with Holy Ghost power. There was no power shortage.
After the resurrection, Christ had a meeting with his future world-changing disciples. He spent forty days speaking to them about the Kingdom of God. Surely, he continued to reveal to them the mysteries of the Kingdom. At the end of the gathering, they asked him if he was going to restore the Kingdom to Israel. His response was enlightening. “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:7-8).
Christ understood what it would take to reach the entire world with the Gospel. He knew they needed power. He instructed them to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence” (Acts 1:4-5). The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a baptism of power. Power to witness and power to overcome every obstacle that would try to hinder your ability to overcome, live the victorious Christian life, and advance the Kingdom of God.
Some Christians suffer from a power outage while others suffer from a power shortage. What the Holy Spirit wants to have in you is a power surge, like power shut up in your bones. One day, Peter was called to a Gentile's house. During the meeting, he talked about Jesus. He said, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). If Jesus needed Holy Ghost power so do you. The good news is God is no respecter of persons. Stir up the gift that's in you.
