You were born to make a difference. Serving a higher purpose in life, besides feeding the flesh all the time, is a fantastic goal for every disciple of Christ. One of the keys to making a difference is listening to the voice of your inner man. That’s what we call the “still small voice.”
You are a spirit, have a soul, and live in a body (1 Thessalonians 5:23).Your spirit is the real you. It’s the part of you that can be led by the Holy Spirit. God is a spirit and your ability to hear him is the connection between Spirit and spirit. Before you were born again you could not be led by the Holy Spirit within your spirit because you were dead in trespasses and sin. But after you were born again your spirit man came alive unto God. It’s the voice of your inner man, that still small voice you need to be aware of.
Elijah heard the voice of the Spirit. The voice was not in the wind, earthquake, or fire. It was in a still small voice.
“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before Jehovah. And, behold, Jehovah passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before Jehovah; but Jehovah was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but Jehovah was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but Jehovah was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:11-12).
Apostle Paul brought more clarity when he wrote, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). Again, when the Holy Spirit speaks it will be Spirit to spirit. Reflect on those moments in life when the Holy Spirit is dropping those bits of revelation into your spirit. Keep listening for that inner voice, that still small voice and make a difference with your life.
