Christians are opposed to witchcraft because it is a practice that goes against the teachings of the Bible. The Bible speaks out against witchcraft in several passages, most notably in the book of Deuteronomy, which says, "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer" (Deuteronomy 18:10–11).
This verse clearly states that God does not approve of any activity related to witchcraft or the occult. In the New Testament, the book of Galatians also speaks out against the practice of witchcraft, stating, "But the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, and heresies" (Galatians 5:19–20).
The meaning of this verse is clear: witchcraft is a work of the flesh and should not be practiced by Christians. The Bible also condemns those who consult with spiritualists or use magic. In the book of Leviticus, it states, "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, nor seek after wizards, to be defiled by them; I am the Lord your God" (Leviticus 19:31). This verse tells us that God does not approve of those who seek out spiritualists or use magic.
Finally, the Bible also speaks out against those who read books about witchcraft or who watch movies or television shows about the subject. In the book of Isaiah, it states, "When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer" (Isaiah 8:19–20).
This verse tells us that God does not want his people to learn the practices of the pagans. Christians are opposed to witchcraft because it goes against the teachings of the Bible. The Bible condemns those who practice witchcraft, consult with spiritualists, use magic, read books about witchcraft, or watch movies or television shows about the subject. Christians are called to live according to the teachings of the Bible and to reject any practices that are contrary to God’s will.
