The Methodist Holiness Church and the Pentecostal Movement are two distinct religious denominations, but they have many similarities in their approaches to Christianity. While the Holiness Church has a longer history and more of a planted presence in the United States, the Pentecostal Movement has emerged in recent decades as one of the most spiritually dynamic and growing faiths of today.
The history of renowned evangelist R.W. Schambach dates back to his early birth in 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was raised by his Lithuanian-immigrant parents and attended church throughout his childhood. As a young man, Schambach’s passion for evangelism and faith was ignited at a Billy Graham crusade.
The United Pentecostal Church (UPC) is a Christian denomination within the Pentecostal movement. The denomination is distinguished by its emphasis on salvation through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as savior and baptism by water immersion in the name of Jesus alone.
Pastor Ern Baxter was a key figure in post-World War II Pentecostalism and the Latter Rain Movement. Born in Canada in 1925, Baxter was raised in a Wesleyan background and was converted in a church revival in 1942. Shortly thereafter, he joined a Pentecostal church and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.
The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) is a Christian denomination established in the United States in 1897 by Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. It is one of the oldest and largest Pentecostal denominations in the world, with approximately six million members in the United States and more than twelve million members worldwide.
