God's Promise of Long Life

Gods Promise of Long Life 304God has promised His people long life, but how many years is not specified. What we do know is that He will be with us every step of the way, providing for us and showing us His salvation. We can trust in His love and grace, using the time He has given us to live our lives with purpose and meaning.

God promised long life to his people: "With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation" (Psalms 91:16). Some people want to know how long "a long life" is. Right now, the average life expectancy in the United States is 78.9 years. This number has been increasing over time due to advancements in healthcare and lifestyle changes, such as improved nutrition and decreased smoking.

Nevertheless, what does God say about the length of days for mankind? In this verse, "long life" refers to a life that is filled with love, joy, peace, and abundance. It is a life that is lived in the presence of God, with Him as the source of all good things. It is a life that is full of purpose and meaning and is sustained by the power of God's love.

So how many years does God promise his people? The answer is that he didn't say anything specific. God does not promise a specific number of years for His people. Instead, He promises that He will be with them for as long as they live, providing for them and showing them His salvation. However, the Bible does mention several different ages of those that passed before us. Here are just a few.

Noah 950

Abraham 175

Jacob 130

Moses 120 years

NOAH

"And Noah lived after the flood for 350 years." "All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died." (Genesis 9:28-29)

ABRAHAM

"The days of Abraham's life were 175 years. "Then Abraham's spirit was released, and he died at a good (ample, full) old age, an old man, satisfied and satiated, and was gathered to his people" (Genesis 15:15).

JACOB

Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are 130 years; few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and they have not attained to those of the life of my fathers in their pilgrimage." (Genesis 47:9)

MOSES "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh; yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." (Genesis 6:3) All of these scriptures are a reminder that life is precious and should be lived to the fullest and that God is faithful in His promises to His people.

In conclusion, God has promised His people long life, though the exact length of days is uncertain and He does not promise a specific number of years. What we do know is that God is faithful, and He will be with us throughout our time here on earth. We must use the time He has given us to draw near to Him and to live out our lives with purpose and meaning, trusting in His love, grace, and mercy.
