God Gave You an Assignment: Discover Your Path to a Better Life Now

Discovering Your AssignmentTake hold of your life and discover your path to a better life now with God's divine assignment! Before you were born, God had a plan for your life that leads to an expected end. Discover your God-given assignment and purpose by seeking the help of the Holy Spirit and joining a church that will help you plug into the right spiritual climate. Take your life into your own hands and discover your path to a better life now.

You, whether male or female, were God’s idea. When God created the heavens and the earth, he had you in mind. When God created Adam, he designed him to rule and reign in the garden. To rule is to exercise kingship.

Peter spoke about the kingship of the believer saying, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9). In other words, you are part of a royal priesthood of kings. Scripture is clear, God gave Adam a place where he could flourish and fellowship with his maker. He gave him authority to keep, protect, watch over, and manage. In other words, a work assignment.

Man needs the right environment to thrive. Adam’s right atmosphere was in God’s design. It’s the same for you. You need to start where Adam did, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. You are not an accident. Before you were, God set you apart with a distinct purpose. It’s called the plan of God.

You can see bits of the creation pattern in the divine calling of Jeremiah into ministry. Scripture declares,

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

There is a lot of information in that Scripture. As with Adam, so it was with Jeremiah. Before Jeremiah was, God had an assignment already mapped out for his life. Look at the pattern.

  • God had a plan for Jeremiah’s life before he was born.
  • Jeremiah was sanctified, set apart with a distinct purpose.
  • He was ordained (named) a prophet. Names offer identity, function, and purpose.
  • Jeremiah’s scope of work was foretold as a prophet to the nations.
  • Jeremiah was given the assignment to root out, throw down, destroy, build and plant.

AN EXPECTED END

God has a plan for your life that leads you to an expected end. Before you were conceived in your mother’s womb, God set a plan in motion for your life. God says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:11-13). This means there are no accidents in God’s mind. Before you were born, God knew you and decreed an expected end for your life.

So far, we have discovered a few things:

  • The garden of Eden was created for Adam before he was made from the dust of the ground.
  • Adam was created a spirit with a soul and physical body.
  • The garden was a domain with an atmosphere that Adam could fellowship with his creator.
  • Adam was called to serve God through his work.
  • Adam was given the responsibility to watch over the garden.

TO EVERY MAN HIS WORK

Just as with Adam and Jeremiah, God has given you an assignment. That assignment is hidden in your spirit Colossians 3:3). An assignment is a duty you are called to perform.

Jesus spoke about authority and work. “For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch” (Mark 13:34). See yourself in this verse. God has given authority and a work assignment for every man. That includes you. Authority is the authorization to carry out your assignment.

To discover your assignment, you will need the help of the Holy Spirit. This means you must seek him out. This is one reason you should never go to a dead church. When a person is cold, he needs to get next to the fire. Don’t ignore the importance of getting in the right spiritual climate and around the right people. Get your act together and take hold of your life. Start with plugging into the right church and spending personal time with the Holy Spirit. That’s one way to get the wisdom you need to make right decisions.
